When a church in San Pedro, California, sought to reimagine its prayer chapel, Winfield Bevins brought the great cloud of witnesses to life through a large-scale installation of 40 modern icons, depicting saints from the Old Testament to the modern Church.
This short film tells the story of how an ordinary space was transformed into a place of beauty, prayer, and contemplation, inviting worshipers to encounter the rich heritage of the Christian faith and find their own place within its enduring story.
Stations of the Cross

Commissioned by Trinity Anglican Church in Atlanta, Winfield Bevins created In the Raw: Stations of the Cross, a series of 14 paintings depicting Christ’s journey to the cross.
Painted in pastels and ink on recycled brown paper bags, the works embrace a raw, earthy aesthetic that reflects the humanity and suffering of Jesus. Installed during Holy Week 2026, the series invites worshipers to journey through the Passion in prayer and contemplation, encountering the beauty of Christ’s sacrificial love and the hope of resurrection.
